Ottmar Liebert

Ottmar Liebert is a German-born guitarist widely credited with popularizing the "Nouveau Flamenco" sound, a style that blends traditional Spanish flamenco guitar with elements of jazz, world music, and electronic textures. Since relocating to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and launching his recording career in the late 1980s, Liebert has released a prolific catalog of albums, often performing with his longtime backing ensemble, Luna Negra. His breakout album "Nouveau Flamenco" became one of the best-selling instrumental guitar records of its era, helping to establish him as a defining voice in contemporary world music.

Known for his hypnotic rhythms, intricate fingerstyle technique, and evocative, cinematic compositions, Liebert has built a devoted global following over a career spanning more than three decades. Beyond music, he's also recognized for his entrepreneurial approach to the industry, having built his own label and embraced early digital distribution to connect directly with fans. His live shows are often praised for their intimate, immersive atmosphere, transporting audiences through soundscapes that merge Spanish guitar tradition with modern sensibilities.
