Topgolf sits on four levels behind MGM Grand on Koval Lane, with more than a hundred climate-controlled hitting bays aimed at a lit outfield of targets. The balls are microchipped, so the screen in your bay scores every shot automatically and turns a driving range into a set of arcade games.
It works for people who do not play golf, which is the point. A bay holds up to six, you rent it by the hour, and food and drink come to you while the rest of the group takes turns. There are pools, a rooftop terrace and several bars on the property, and live music most weekend nights.
Mornings are quiet and cheapest. Friday and Saturday evenings are neither, and a walk-in wait of an hour or more is normal.
