Chad Gray

Chad Gray is an American singer and songwriter best known as the powerhouse frontman of nu metal acts Mudvayne and Hellyeah. Born in 1971 and active in the music industry since 1996, Gray built a reputation for his distinctive vocal delivery, ranging from guttural growls to melodic hooks, and for the theatrical, often face-painted stage presence he brought to Mudvayne's breakthrough years in the early 2000s.

After establishing himself in the nu metal and groove metal scene, Gray went on to co-found Hellyeah, blending groove metal with southern rock and alternative metal influences alongside fellow musicians from bands like Pantera and Nothingface. Across both projects, he has cultivated a loyal following built on high-energy live performances and a willingness to push heavy music in new stylistic directions.
