Paul Banks

Paul Banks is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary lyricist of Interpol, the New York-based band that became one of the defining acts of the early-2000s post-punk revival. With his brooding baritone and cryptic, atmospheric lyrics, Banks helped shape a sound built on angular guitars, driving basslines, and a moody, noir-tinged aesthetic that resonated deeply with the indie rock scene.

Beyond his work with Interpol, Banks has carved out a notable solo career, releasing music under his own name as well as the moniker Julian Plenti. He's also shown a willingness to experiment outside the indie rock mold, teaming up with Wu-Tang Clan's RZA for the genre-blending collaborative project Banks & Steelz. This versatility has earned him respect not just as a frontman, but as a genuinely creative musical force willing to cross genre lines.

Whether performing Interpol classics or exploring his solo and collaborative material, Banks brings an intense, magnetic stage presence and a distinctive vocal style that has influenced a generation of rock and alternative artists.
