THE KING JAMES BROWN BAND
Sand Dollar Lounge

King James Brown has been bringing soul music to stages from Sapporo to Las Vegas for five decades, and his stop at the Sand Dollar Lounge puts that history on full display. The band leans into tight horns, a rhythm section locked into the groove, and a frontman who knows how to work a room built for exactly this kind of night. Expect sweat, energy, and a setlist that draws from the deep well of classic soul and funk.

The Sand Dollar Lounge itself is no stranger to this kind of show. Since the 1970s it's hosted blues and soul legends who understood the room's low ceilings and close quarters make for a different kind of live music experience, one where the band and the crowd aren't separated by much of anything. No cover, 21 and up, and the show runs late into the night, which fits a lounge that's built its reputation on exactly this kind of late, loud, sweaty set.
